Moody day by the sea
There is a saying - at least that I have heard - that goes someting like this:
If it is dark and grey - go for black and white
Meaning that if there is not really any interesting light then the scene is better shot in black and white instead of color.
So when I had this cold and wet walk along the coast south of Copenhagen I of course has my camera set to shoot in black and white. When I later reviewed the images I was not really that impressed. They were not bad by any means, just not great.
As I mentioned in some other post recently I have spend some time trying to get better at editing. It has always been a weakness of mine. I will not say that I have become good at it. But I have definitely improved.
One of the positive side effects of this is to go back over images that I have already shot and then trying my new-found skills on them.
The images here today are a result of exactly that. They were shot over a year ago on my Nikon Zf and as mentioned earlier did not achieve the look or feel I was after. It was like the sharpness and detail of the black and white profile washed away the grey, wet and cold of that specific day.
Going over the same images once more and converting them to color along with some added grain and adjustments suddenly makes them reflect the day and mood much more closely.
I can suddenly “feel” how the day actually was again. Hence I also want to share them.
